Have you participated in highpower matches before? If not, shoot the rifle as is. You might find that you don't like this discipline of shooting, and you will have wasted money if you modified the rifle. Give it a few tries at reduced courses only, and then make a decision.
1. Rock River Arms lower, either tune up the stock NM trigger or get a White Oak Armament trigger.
2. White Oak Armament upper, 1/4"X1/4" pinned rear sight, float tube, front sight of your choice ( I personally like .052" and a tad smaller), etc... it all comes as a complete upper. Have it throated for 80 grain rounds if you want to shoot them at the 600 and 1,000 yard line - I suggest it. They buck the wind better than 77s.
3. Turner 54" leather sling, or an M1 Garand web sling.
I would NOT reccomend assembling the rifle on your own. I would have a competent and well-known armorer to assemble it, to squeeze the most accuracy out of the system as possible. This is not to say you are incompetent, but personally I'd give it to the best in the buisness to do the job perfectly.
