noticed that it doesnt say what reticle they will be using, but it probably be the mil-dot at least im guessing/hoping it would be.

i have one and its 5.5-22x50 with the npr2 reticle. great all around scope.

if they go with the mil-dot i wonder if it will effect production of the other reticles

I SPOKE WITH NIGHTFORCE SPECIFICALLY ABOUT HOW THE SCOPES DIFFER FROM THE ONES AVAILABLE ON THE CIVILIAN MARKET. HERE'S WHAT THEY SAID:

1. MORE EXTREME TESTING FOR OUR MILITARY USERS, APPROPRIATELY ENOUGH. THE "X" IN "NSX" STANDS FOR "EXTREME".
2. NIGHT VISION SETTINGS ON 1-4X AND 2.5-10X.
3. ZERO STOP ON THE BIGGER SCOPES.

OTHERWISE, THE DESIGN AND MATERIALS USED ARE IDENTICAL.

I WAS ALSO TOLD BY NIGHTFORCE THAT THE 1-4X WAS IN LIMITED PRODUCTION AND WE'D SEE THEM PERHAPS BY THE FIRST OF 2006. HOWEVER, A YEAR AGO, I WAS TOLD WE'D SEE THEM BY THE FIRST OF 2005.

THE HEAD DEVGROUP ARMORER, A REGULAR AT A NEARBY SHOOTING FACILITY, TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD SWITCHED OVER TO NIGHTFORCE COMPLETELY SOME TIME AGO. THEY'D EVEN DROPPED THEIR HIGH END GERMAN GLASS. HE SAID THEY'D EXPERIENCED TRACKING PROBLEMS.

I am glad I got my 2.5-10 when i did. it even came with Night Vision settings.

Does anyone know what reticle was choosen?

DOES IT HAVE NIGHT VISION SETTINGS, OR SIMPLY A NIGHT VISION RHEOSTAT?

THE ONLY WAY TO CHECK IS TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AND GET BEHIND THE SCOPE WITH A NIGHT VISION DEVICE.

I WAS TOLD BY NIGHTFORCE THAT SOME WERE SHIPPED OUT IN ERROR WITH NIGHT VISION SETTINGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE NAVY. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT SOME WERE SIMPLY ASSEMBLED WITH THE INCORRECT RHEOSTAT KNOB.

A NIGHT VISION DEVICE BEHIND A DAY SCOPE IS NOT THE ANSWER, ANYWAY. A NIGHT VISION DEVICE IN FRONT IS THE ANSWER. THAT'S WHY LARUE MAKES 13.2" FORENDS, TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT REAL ESTATE IN FRONT OF A BIGGER SCOPE FOR THE NEW AN/PVS 22 UNS.

CORRECT, 2ND FOCAL PLANE. THE RETICLE IS ALWAYS THE SAME APPARENT SIZE AS YOU LOOK THROUGH THE SCOPE.

I PERSONALLY HAVE ALWAYS PREFERRED THIS. BUT TO EACH HIS OWN.

Grant,
Are you trying to say some had N/V built in them? They made some with a Rheostat that had the N/V compatible setting I know of we have a few see blow the half moon and the sliver moon are the two settings. But from your statement it sounds like you are trying to say that they made some with N/V is this right?

I also heard about some problems with the German glass from some go fast boys down south from me.... interesting...

SOME GOT OUT WITH NOT JUST THE NIGHT VISION RHEOSTAT, BUT THE NIGHT VISION CIRCUITRY, AS WELL. I JUST RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM A CUSTOMER WHO HAS ONE. HE CHECKED IT WITH HIS N.V.D., TOO, HE REPORTS.
