I've got a couple of the NC Star products, one I bought, a holo type sight, and one 4x scope that came as part of a trade. The scope is total junk and the holo sight is good enough for an AK pistol but I wouldn't trust it for any distance past 50 yards. My overall opinion of NCStar is if you can get it for free, or next to nothing, then go for it, but don't pay much because they're not worth much. On the other hand there are some good inexpensive optics, the Simmons Pro Diamond is one, and it's not made in China. I've had one of the 1.5x5 on my AR carbine for several months now and have nothing but good things to say about it. I've spoken with several hunters who have used them on shotguns for turkey hunting and really like them. CDNN has them for $49. Just because you can't afford a $500 or $1000 optic doesn't mean you have to stick with irons only or settle for junk that won't work.
I don't know if the T168 scopes are NCStar or not, they are made in China. I know some that have gotten ones that are really bad and others have gotten ones that seem pretty good. I'm one of the latter, the one I have has a centered reticle and is bright and clear. The power switch is junk, but the scope itself is pretty decent for $40, but nowhere near as nice as the Simmons.
