This is my first attempt at a poll, so please be nice

I have a new Colt 6940.  I can't decide what I want to have done to it (if anything).  Ar15.com gets to decide what happens and I get to spend the money.

Before and after pics will be posted.

Shooting it seems like the best option.

Is this your first AR?

Just shoot the dang thing. Worry about all the doo-dads later.

I vote add fixed front sight base, delta ring, and plastic hand guards.

I'd replace the FSB and cut the barrel down to 14.7 and pin/weld the FH.

If you replace the front sight on your 6940 I would like to purchase the old one.

I have a 6940 and I like it as is. A lot of people say they do not like the fron sight but I don't mind it. I keep it up all the time when I shoot so I guess a fixed FSB would be cool but not worth it for me at least.

I would leave well enough alone and put an optic on the rifle that would expolit the accuracy afforded by the monolithic rail and free float barrel .  the whole point of a 6940 is to plug and play everything has already been done for you

Your poll needs another option....
Keep the front sight, shave the lug, chop to 12.5", and SBR the lower

That does look very good. I can definitely see an SBR in my future.

Add lots of Tapco furniture to it.

Toss it down the driveway?

Try it as is first, if the length bothers you have it chopped by ADCO.

Just add an optic like an Elcan SpecterDR, Surefire RAID M720V LED weaponlight, and Magpul MS3 sling.

Maybe you could mess around with the flip up front sight later.

+ 1000

Tell you what, I've got a Remington 11-87 Premier and a DPMS Sportical I'll trade you for the 6940 just the way it came out of the box!

You can have ADCO cut down the barrel on the DPMS to any length that floats your boat, have them add a fixed FSB and you'll have a REALLY nice semi-auto shotgun and an AR-15 to your liking.

P.S. that's my 6940 in the foreground of my picture on the left.

I think you would be crazy to do anything to it.  Especially the ridiculously pointless changes given in the poll.

You will not save any weight by cutting it down.  The 6940 has a titanium FSB that already is saving you a shitload of weight.  The monolithic hand guard is already light and it's weight is biased towards the center.  The 6940 is probably one of the best balanced stock AR rifles on the market.

You have something special there, and I'm not sure that you realize it.

I'm calling first EE dibs for when you realize you mangled a good upper and you're selling it at a loss.

Leave it stock or go whole hog and cut it to 10.5-12.5.  Probably best with option 1

I like the folding front sight, but I'd waste no time cutting that barrel down to 14.5".
