Here is my new and first AR-15.  It is a RRA mid length chrome lined upper.   I still need a carry handle and ammo.  Any suggestions for a removable carry handle?   Is there a difference in the quality of carry handles?

As I said I still need a carry handle, maybe you can help.  I found some used ones for sale, can you help identify the brand of carry handle?  Anyone with a RRA or DPMS carry handle please compare the markings.  Heres a link the the post with the pics:

i worked for SmartParts for awhile. i left right about the time the shocker was a prototype. WTF is the ion? and for that matter do the "all-americans" still exist?

The Ion is a cheaper version of the shocker, sells for $285.  It has breakbeam eyes, and a ramping board.  It is one of the most popular markers on the market today.   Super light, small and gets about 1500 shots off a 68/4500 tank.   They shoot excellent for the price.

Nice collection.  It's good that you've got the 10/22, but to be a member of this site you gotta have a .38 too.  Go out and buy one right away before Staff finds out you don't have one.    Just kidding.  It's an inside joke around here.  Seriously you've got a nice flattop AR why "mess" it up with a carry handle?  It's a waste of money IMHO.  What you need are a BUIS, optic and sling like this:

See?  No room for a carry handle and no need with a sling.  As always YMMV.

PS  If you really like the look of the "original" AR just buy another A2 style upper.  In other words "get both!"  Another ARFCOM tradition!

I like 'em
Forget the carry handle - get a BUIS, then an optic.

And, ditch the hi-caps on those SKS...they deserve better!

The bottom one is from Cardinal Forge. My carry handle I got from RB precision was a RRA about a year ago and was also from the same forge.

It doesn't matter, really, because those are all good-quality handles in that pic.

WIZZO

EDIT: and good choice on the RRA chrome-lined middy.

Thanks for the advice Wizzo.

Why does everyone hate SKS's with hicaps?   I have the original 10 rounder but I shoot them often and like the hicaps.

I would like to get a BUIS and a dot scope but the dot scopes are too rich for my blood.   Also I do like the look of the standard A2 but everone here talked me into a flattop.   My plans were to just get carry handle, learn the rifle then step into a red dot a few years down the line.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I'd get a carry handle by the same company that made the rifle, but that's just me.

I shot a guy with a shocker once.

Welcome to the club Derek, nice arf.

What I’m really coveting though is your 700 ADL in 270 Winchester. I’ve wanted one of those for a long time. How does it shoot?

Also, what manufacture SN range is that beautiful Garand?

Get what you want, its your weapon, and you are the only person it should matter to.

If I were getting an iron sight, I would buy a BUIS now, and would just use that as my primary sight until I got an optic a few years later.  This way, I wouldn't be buying things twice.

Something else to think about is that you don't have to buy a folding BUIS, there are fixed versions as well.  Both do very well.

Here is a picture of one of mine with a cut carry handle as a fixed rear sight.

When you decide on an optic, you can continue to use your fixed rear sight, and it would look like this....
