Hows about this....

A LMT MRP upper (full lenght rail version) with a Leitner-Wise type gas piston system with a 16"
chrome lined barrel (1/7 twist if in 5.56).

LMT enhanced bolt.

Buis front and rear (probably Troy Industries for me).

Magpul M93A (or B when it gets down the pipeline).

Magpul Miad pistol grip.

Front pistol grip (one that can fold up out of the way for me).

Provision for a bipod adapter (better to have it and not need it than...).

Aimpoint dot site with thier 3x adapter.

Various rail covers for the exposed parts of rails (Magpul).

Surefire light.

And if the developers of the 6.8 did something about the crappy mag capacity, I'd take it in 6.8 SPC
caliber.

I've gone round the bend have'nt I ?

I would preferr A2 grip, KAC vertical foregrip, no bipod. Aimpoint sans magnifier.

14.5" pencil barrel, 1/7 chrome lined
A1 upper with no brass deflector
Colt 4 pos stock
DD ambi sling plate
TA31F ACOG in the carry handle

Simple, lightweight, effective, and would do absolutely everything I need an AR to do.

That sounds like a pretty nifty AR there TacCar for sure! Don't they make 6.8MM mags that hold 25 rounds? That's not crappy at all, though that's just my opinion.
I don't think you've gone 'round the bend dude. There are a a LOT of guys on this board that have a LOT more on their rifles than what you've listed.

Sigurd brought up the Colt 4 position stock. I really like these above all the others I have seen on other peoples guns. I've tried the newer 6 position stock style and ended up going back to the more compact 4 position.

The Ultimate AR15 will be different for everyone here I would guess. I agree that the 16" barrel is a good length for an all around AR. Good post.

I have 10 of the 25 round PRI mags. They are oversized and I'll have to fit them to my rifle with a vise.

I stand corrected Jack, thanks.

Well if only the 10 rounders work right out of the box for 6.8MM then yeah...that would be crappy!

(Then again here in Hawaii all we're allowed is Crappy 10 rounders....LOL!)

You can live without the enhanced bolt whose main purpose is to enhance the emptiness of your wallet.  Not sure the AR needs a gas piston either.  Otherwise it sounds a lot like my MRP

Another +1. Keep it simple. I might add an ACOG to that, but that's about it.

Of course, this list/description only stands until the next Shot show.

Here's my Ultimate Setup:

Not finished yet.

The 16" heavy barrel will be turned down to a mid-weight diameter.

YHM folding front sight/gas block.

The ACOG will be replaced by a Aimpoint M3 with ARMS cantaliever mount and Aimpoint 3X magnifier.

And, I got a Green TangoDown pistol grip for color coordination!

I would have loved to have that or a M4 when I was still humping a ruck.

How come it seems that the best toys always come out after you get out?

There are a lot of good AR15 setups.

By the way, my 5, 10, 15, and 25 round 6.8SPC mags are working well.

AMEN! That's basically what I have at home right now (except it's Black) simple and to the point.

Not too shabby on accuracy either

My ultimate AR is something compact, very light and not overloaded with accessories.  Basically the BM Carbon 15 pistols with Eotech 552s, that I'm converting to SBRs with the addition of stocks.  Simple, compact and very light weight.  I may get nuts and dress the 97S version up with a vertical grip *if* it reduces muzzle rise or target acquisition time.
