Just got it in his hands.

YOu turn it on with the right button, and turn it off by pressing both buttons. So what does the middle button do?

You'll note that it's marked NV...it reduces the power to the reticle so it can be used with a night vision device without burning the tube..

The NV button is only on the 512 and 552. The 511 does not have a middle button. It is just a cover for where the button WOULD be if it were a NV model. Just ignore it.

That's a negative. The 551 and 552 are NV compatiable. The 511/512 have the new raised rubber face plate, but are NOT NV compatiable so the middle button does nothing....

C4

Duh, I'm stupid.
The 512 is the AA version without NV. The second digit (1 or 5) denotes NV or not, and the third digit (1 or 2) is for the battery size. The sad thing is, I learned all about it when I bought mine from C4!
