Hi all!  This is my first post on AR.  I found you guys as I began to research for what I hope will be an excellent pistol cartridge carbine.  I've recently dumped allot of oddball guns from my collection and aligned it to be more functional.  A few Sig pistols, a Benelli shotgun, and I was originally looking for an HK-94.  But WOW have prices gone up since the late 80's on those!

So anyway, after seeing the Carbon 15 from Bushmaster, and real;izing some other companies are producing 9's, I was ready to go down that path, but now I am wondering if .45 is a viable option.  I've done some research on the borad here, but I could use some clarification.

So first question.  Is there a finished product type .45 as there is for the 9mm, in production today (without user fabrication required)?

If not, is one expected soon?

-- Or should I just set myself on the 9mm path??  Opinions/Advice?

Thanks in advance!

Olympic Arms makes a complete .45acp AR.  they only have 10 rd mags , though.  they use modified UZI .45 mags.  16 rd are out there, but hard to find now-a-days.  a complete 9mm from RRA or CMMG would be the least amount of hassle/ wait time.

Stay away from Carbon guns. they go kaboom often. 45 stuff is hard to find and most of it is OLy. 9mm is cheaper to shoot ,and you can rig out the gun easy like mine.

An Olympic 45 gives you the more knock down.  With Tango's soon to be released 45 and Bazooka Brothers 45 caliber lower receivers 30rnds Grease Mags are the way to go. Barrel X Change is also going to be releasing a drum mag using a Grease Gun Tower. So mags aren't really an issue for the 45. You can find more info on these links

The big question with 9mm's is Olympic or RRA. Both work well.  RRA is more common but Oly is easier (Less parts and cheaper mags.)  IMO

Why is Oly easier and cheaper mags?

Oly doesn't need a special hammer (any/all will work).  they use very inexpensive Sten  Mags, and the mag blocks are cheaper.

The OLY GL9 is good also because it uses glock mags and there is no mag block.  Its a dedicated glock lower.
