How much you cut off?

Thanks, the dog is a sissy but she looks scary through the cracks in the blinds though

I don't know the exact amount removed from the barrel. I told adco to make it light as possible then cut off enough to make the pwsc + barrel= 16.1 inches of legalness.

The balance is great, almost all of the weight is the bolt, not at the barrel now. The optics are great but it ways in at about 1.4lbs I think I need to replace it with a t1 and build another one.....

looks good, when i'm planning on scoping the gun, the sights go and put on a lo-pro type of gas black, think it looks better, also room to move the scope back, i see alot of people with the scope more forward, thats okay for a red dot, however proper eye relief seems and a comfortable cheek position seem to be a bit back further than most pics i see of scope mounts....but thats all up to preference, gun looks great

Thanks for the comments. You should note that not all scopes have the same eye relief. For example my scope has 3.2 inches of eye relief.  Positioning it this far for gives me the best sight picture when I shoulder the rifle. It is a 1x4 scope, and it kind of mimics a red dot too The front site post I was debating but it was lighter to keep the shorter rail and the fsb. If I take the scope of and use irons or a lighter red dot, it is a one of the lightest .308 based ar's I've ever seen. 9lbs minus 1.4 lbs of Trijicon and Larue goodness

Sweet mods. I've been thinking about doing the same.

What was the cost to reprofile, cut and thread?

Bout 200 plus shipping from adco.
95 for full barrel reprofile
65for cut thread
30 for perm attach flash hider

A lot for a factory barrel but makes a world of difference and I already had the barrel. Was thinking of a different barrel but I would still have to do the work to make it like this one.

The barrel was the hardest part of the build for me. I wasn't to sure about sending off the barrel and the ordering system adco uses for their shop work confused me. I fired off some emails and got some quick replies. Work took only a couple of days door to door, I would recommend them for anyone else.  A local guy wanted to charge me 70$ just to pin the flash hider

Your design is very impressive.

Most impressive (to me) is the fact that without your scope, your rifle meets Colonel Jeff Cooper's weight for a scout rifle.  Whether this means anything to you or not, I shall have to wait and hear.

Thank you much I take that as a compliment. I had to do some research but I do not fully fit into the scout description

Scout rifle

An optimized general-purpose rifle designed by Jeff Cooper.
Weight-sighted and slung: 3 kilograms (6.6 lb). This has been set as the ideal weight but the maximum has been stated as being 3.5 kg (7.7 pounds ).
Length: 1 meter (39 inches)
Barrel length: .48 meter (19 inches)
Sighting system: Forward and low mounted (ahead of the action opening) long eye relief telescope of between 2x and 3x. Reserve iron sights desirable but not necessary.
Action: Magazine fed bolt action. Detachable box magazine and/or stripper clip charging is desirable but not necessary.
Sling: Fast loop-up type, i.e. Ching or CW style.
Caliber: Nominally .308 Winchester (7.62 x 51 mm) or 7 mm - 08 Winchester (7 x 51 mm), with .243 Winchester (6 x 51 mm) being considered for frail individuals or where "military" calibers are proscribed.
Built-in bipod: Desirable but not mandatory.
Accuracy: Should be capable of shooting into 2 minutes of angle or less at 200 yards/meters (3 shot groups).

That was basically my plan though. I have carried my AR15 for days and hours at a time, I know I dont want 50lbs of crap hanging off my rifle. I made this almost as light as astandard AR but with full size power of a military cartridge.
