If it's postban, you won't be able to take it apart without destroying the mag. Sounds like you have a pre ban "hunting" mag. IMHO I'd keep it a 5 rounder and buy a 20/30 rounder. Marketwise, the original 5 round hunting mags will get you 5-10 bucks more than a 20 round mag.

sounds like my colt 5 rounders, and I got mine with a preban rifle I got new in the early 90's, my sporter had 2 mags like that looked like a 20 rounder but the only held 5 rounds. Ronald

Can you post a pic/scan?
Does it have 2 visible pop rivets in the base plate? (if so, they can be drilled out, and the block can be removed...it's just a "U" shaped piece of sheet metal) My pre-ban Colt Match-HBar came with 2 of those...they were quickly "modified" |

Yes, 2 pop-out little things. I haven't been able to just "remove" it. So I think I'll take your advise and drill the SOB...
