Well I just about finished my Midlength Build. All I need is a nice peice of glass sitting on top. I am still unsure of what I want to put on. I know I am going with a Larue SPR mount with either a Nikon Tactical 2.5-10x44 Illuminated Mil Dot, or Leupold Tactical  3-9x36 Mark 4 MR/T Illuminated Mil Dot. But I have tossed around the idea of putting another ACOG on...If I don't go w/ the ACOG a Dr Optic will be needed for the quick close range shots. What would you guys go with? Target Engagement is between 50-200 yards btw.

Here's the specs:

16" Denny's 1/7 Stainless Steel Recon Barrel Wylde Chamber
CMT Wylde Chambered Headspaced Bolt w/ Wolf Ejector Spring and SPR 0 Ring
Bushmaster Lower
CMT A3 Upper
Larue Tactical 9.0"
Vortex Flash Suppressor
Magpul MIAD Grip OD Green/Black
Mpagul M93B OD Green/Black
Magpul Rail Ladders OD Green
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
YHM Bipod Adapter
Harris 6-9" Bipod
PRI Low Profile Gas Block

Wow, that looks good. I would like to do a 16" middy recon with a DD 12.0 for my next build. I think I'm ging to use the Leupold MR/T-M2 1.5-5x.

Just curious what specifies a gun as a "recon"

Roughly, a 16" carbine with mid-weight/medium contour barrel, FF rail, and magnified optic. Generally used for short to medium distance precision work, but still light and compact enough to run and gun.

Optik, nice! I like the look of the LaRue, the PRI block, and the stainless barrel. Very classy!

I'd use a variable power 1.5-5x short dot/shotgun scope for that range, and for the versatility.

Nice rifle, how heavy is it, say compared to an M4 type rifle?  Done any shooting with it yet?

Pic of my Recon with the Leupold 1.5-5x20 Mark 4 MR/T 30mm Riflescope.
I like the scope allot because it can be used at close ranges also. I am very happy with the Leupold.

What exactly is the Wylde chamber?

Half-way between a "Match .223" chamber and a "5.56 NATO" chamber.

Optik-  Nice rifle.  I'd personally go with a S&B Short Dot, Leupold 1.5-5X, or a Meopta 1-4X scope.  I like that magnification for the 50-200yd mission.

Honestly, if you're only shooting to 200yds, I have had good success with my Eotech at that distance.  However, with a 4-5X magnified scope, you can identify your target more successfully.

I agree with the Swingset here... keep in mind that if you plan on using it during inclement weather, low-light or any sort of close-and-fast work I would recommend that your optic be illuminated as well.  Generally speaking, the bolder or brighter the reticle, the faster you can put sights on target.  Then.... you won't need a Docter or Optima, hence the other reason for a variable 1-5 power optic.

Does it have any ill effect on using 5.56 ammo? Also does it require any special bolt/carrier?

+1

Subjectively, how does that extra weight up front feel?

Optik45, It is a beautiful stick.  Try some Hornady TAP 75grn in it, my rifle likes it allot.
