Im going to Purchase an Aimpoint CompML2 for my Rock River Arms CAR A2 original thought was to install RIS rails and mount it forward of the carry handle at a height where I could place the red dot just on top of the front sight. and still be able to use the iron sights through the optic if case of battery failure, etc.  Upon review this is a bad idea due to mainting zero with the hanguard system. What would be a good SCOUT type mount that would attach to the carry handle and extened out over the handguars, yet still allow use of the iron sights?

You might want to contact AIMPOINT and inquire exactly where this set-up places the dot to be sure it meets with your expectations.  All of mine are on flat tops and not on the gooseneck mount.  Also, AIMPOINT is not the only company to make goosenecks.  I believe ARMS also makes one.
