These are immediately following a bombing of a jeep parked in front of grampa Joe's  Scout.  Partial rib 604s with three prong muzzles.
same group of pix or roll of film as the one of hIm in his office posted yesterday.

Thanks for the pics!

Makes me feel old when you say your grandfather when it could have been my dad but at least I'm not like some of these guys where it could have been or was me

Grampa Joe was no spring chicken!  He was born in 1920, was a vet of 14th  airforce (post AVG) Flying Tigers.  Sat out korea.  I was told he went to Nam to get his full bird, yet he was passed over.  He came home in Sept '69.  Passed in 1997.  Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for posting, it is nice to see the photos and read the story behind them.  I think it is worth re-posting them on the tacked "real deal" thread so they will be more easily found in the future.

I am unfamiliar with the fortificatonn here, sandbag walls with a larger area enclosed behind a framework and wire mesh to stop grenades?

Chain link detonates RPGs before it hits intended target as well as deflect hand grenades.

Precisely.  You will occasionally see pics of M113 APC's with a roll of chain link fence carried atop, that would be put up around the track when set in for NDP for that very reason.

SmegHead, Thanks for sharing your Grandfathers pics.

The PG-2/B-40 HEAT rocket was bad news for the M113s; you can see in the last picture the way the plasma jet cuts into the aluminum alloy armor and the concentric rings of molten copper from the warhead.
