I LIKE IT.
THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION ON ANOTHER THREAD REGARDING THE LENGTH OF THE AFT SECTION OF THE PRS. THE REASON IT IS THIS SUBSTANTIAL LENGTH IS SO THAT A LARGER FOOTPRINT IS OFFERED TO RIDE A REAR SANDBAG OR SIMILAR FIELD EXPEDIENT SUPPORT.
REMEMBER THE MCMILLAN A4 STOCK? WHEN IT CAME OUT, IT CREATED A SENSATION, AND THE U.S.M.C. QUICKLY ADOPTED IT FOR THEIR SNIPER RIFLE. IT HAD A SHORT LITTLE FLAT SECTION JUST FORWARD OF THE BUTTPLATE. IN PRACTICE, IT TURNED OUT TO BE TOO SHORT FOR BEST RESULTS. SO WHEN MCMILLAN UPDATED THE A4 STOCK AND CAME OUT WITH THE IMPROVED A5, AMONG THE CHANGES WERE A MORE GENEROUS SURFACE FOR SUPPORTING THE AFT END OF THE WEAPON.
MCMILLAN A5 STOCK:
THE MCMILLAN A5 IS GENERALLY ACCEPTED AS BEING THE PINNACLE OF BOLT GUN STOCK DESIGN. DO YOU SEE THE SIMILARITY WITH THE PRS?
