This is what seems to be available in the several auto parts stores around me. Will one of these work for use on the barrel nut threads?

Coastal® Industrial Moly EP Grease is recommended for use where an NLGI No. 2 EP multipurpose grease is specified. Applications include automotive chassis, wheel bearings (excluding disc brakes) and universal joints, off-highway and construction equipment, trucking, mining, and farming equipment, as well as many other industrial applications.

Coastal® Premium Multipurpose EP Grease is recommended for use as a multipurpose lubricant in heavy duty industrial equipment operating under adverse conditions, journal and antifriction bearings, electric motors, gear couplings, and any other application where an NLGI No. 2 EP multipurpose grease is specified.

What color should this stuff be?

Thanks, I'll go back and pick up the Coastal grease tomorrow. It was a couple bucks for the tube.

The film canister idea is a good one. Thanks for that tip as well.
