Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Modern Telestock Buffer Tubes Same as XM177E2 Tubes?

Another question regarding "vintage" ARs.

Besides the number of holes drilled in it to accomodate the various stock positions, is the telestock receiver extension tube the same on today's "waffle design" telestocks as it was on the old aluminum XM177E2 telestocks?

I know the stocks themselves have changed, but I was curious to know if the extension tubes had changed any.  Thanks!

Not to my knowledge.  As you point out the only difference should be # of detents.

I have never actually removed a stock from the tube, but I have a parts drawer full of old collapsible stock assemblies.  I can't see any difference in them other than the number of detent holes.  Watch-Six

The only thing that's changed is the number of positions and the color of the tube. Some of the after market stocks have longer tubes or tubes that are angle cut at the rear of the tube. Colt's tubes are the same tubes they've been making since 1965/66.
