Planning on going to the gun show this weekend. Looking for a 20in. upper without a break. Must be 5.56 chamber. Model 1 is usualy at the show , but is thier stuff any good. how about thier prices. Would consider a nice used one from private party. What's a good price for used?

I have built several rifles using Model 1 kits, zero problems, barrels are made by Wilson, trigger guard is aluminum, nice finish.

I am currently running a 16" A2 on a DPMS lower, no problems yet with about 400 rounds through it, havent even lubed just assembled it and started shooting. Had this kit on my 80% lower for a while and had zero problems with that set up.

Iy you want to buy a built up rifle I am considering the sale of this carbine, e-mail me if interested and I will give you the particulars and pics if wanted.

I have never heard of any problems with Model 1.  I know two people that have there uppers and they have never complained about them.  Let me ask you this if you take a name brand drug vs a generic one does it do the same thing?  Yes pay for the BM or Colt name if you like but most all of there parts come from the same place, barrels included......

Your sure about this? I have a Model 1 kit and a Bushy Kit and I can tell the diff.

-the model 1 barrel has NO markings, the BM does.

-the model 1 front sight post is cast, the BM is forged.

I just finnished the first AR I have ever built. It is a Model 1 24 inch fluted bull barrel varmit, on a Olympic lower. I found it an easy build and I just had it to the range this am. All my goal for this morning was to check functioning and to get the scope on the paper. It threw sub 1 minute groups using bulk S&B 55 grain all morning with 3 jams that stopped when I switched from a surplus Orlite mag to to a Steel Olympic 10 rounder.Thrilled with the performance so far and a I plan to put another 100 or so bulk round through it before realy begining accuracy trials
