A military guyw was telling me about some mystery "holosight" or something that the military buys that is not available to us civilians.  He couldnt give it an exact name, but says it want not Aimpoint, Eotec, or one of hte Hakko things.  What was he talking about????

Probably.  But I sure don't think it is any better than an EOtech or Aimpoint.

ir lasers are restricted?

why?  they can't be that hard to develop.  not that civvies would need one, but i'm pretty unlikely to need my bayonet lug, either.

IR's are used in the millitary so you can shoot with Night vision on, like it was stated above, there would be no need for you to use it unless you plan on shooting with night vision on.

A lot of places, lasers are illegal for hunting.

There is in GA!!! You can hunt feral hogs at night with no more than a 9v power flashlight.  So I would guess on a technicallity if the IR didn't use more than 9v you are golden!
