After seeing so many "how many is enough?" threads and the high numbers associated with them, I'm curious if there is a limit to the number soldiers can carry.
They are issued 6 or 8 right?
Is there any way for them to obtain more if they like?
Is there a limit to the number they can carry?

And on a different note, Do they still use stripper clips to fill mags? LULAs? hand loading one by one?

just curious,
thanks,

-GH

1.  Standard load is 7 mags (210 rounds).
2/3.  Soldiers carry as many as the can get and carry.  Depending on the unit, some are stingy and some have all you need.  Limiting the amount is the acual weight of the mags and number of carriers/pouches.  That's why you see GIs carry bandoleers loaded with magazines.
4.  Standard ball comes packed on strippers.  Tracer is loose (20 round boxes)  and you can also delink the ammo from SAW belts.  MK262 is also loose.  Haven't seen any of the new AP but believe that it is probley loose also.  Blanks are never on strippers but 20 round boxes or belted.  Some units and individuals may have bought the LULA with their own funds.  Strippers are quite fast and easy once you learn the techinque.

Believe it or not, we were issued blank rounds in both stripper clips (possibly a turn in/re-issue)
and also in small zip lock bags. I had never seen that before. This was about 2 months ago so maybe
they are starting to get creative.

Well it took them long enough to finally put blanks on strippers!
