I have had a Midlength ar for about 5yrs now and I was thinking about giving it a facelift. I would like to add a free floated tube, but I cannot decide if I want a midlength tube, or a rifle tube with a low profile gas block under the handguards. I also want to swap the Aimpoint for a Mid range tactical scope.

Here is how it started:

Here is a pic in its configuration now.

Any input into advantages / disadvantages to using a rifle length ff tube on a middy gas system?

the only adv i can see of a rifle length tube w/ low pro gas block is the extra rail space you get...and it does look pretty cooler

I dont like the looks of rifle length rails on a 16" personally, I'd just get some middie rails and you'll probably be happy. you also wont have to mess with flip or bolt on front sights, etc.
