Maybe I took a while to notice this, but I was playing Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, and I caught a glimpse of something familiar while playing. Take a close look at this picture:

Closer:

It appears that Max Payne is holding a Bushy A3 M4gery....

Still Closer:

Dig the Mini Y Comp and shaven bayo lug! It appears the Brady antics even affected video games

And one more thing...

Max Payne is so tough, he eats bullets for breakfast and shoots his Mini Y Comp-equipped rifle without hearing protection!!!

Did no one else notice this, or am I just slow?

I can see the pic just fine.

hell, even the magazine looks like one of those ghay silver Bushmaster 10rd mags with that little hole on the side

But if you look carefully, that's a Colt lower with milspec buffertube.

EDIT: NOW the pics appear to be red Xs.
EDIT #2: The pics are working again, this is creepy.

Ah, indeed it does not appear to be a Bushy lower...

good eyes

ETA: Maybe I should post this under the picture thread

ETA: I'm retracting my previous statement. What I thought to be different now doesn't appear to be so. What do YOU perceive to make it a Colt lower??

Why would the makers of that game want to show Max using a "post ban" Bushmaster? In the game is that gun full auto?
Link Posted: 10/6/2004 6:34:03 PM EST
he stole my bushy

ACTUALLY,

The cyclic rate is pretty slow, like maybe 5 shots/second.

The first Max Payne had used a Colt Commando. I wonder why they switched to this inferior version.
Link Posted: 10/6/2004 6:40:37 PM EST
Yeah sadly thats a fact. Like alot of average people thought the AWB banned machine guns. And the way the media promotes the idea "if it looks like a machine gun it must be a full auto."

Here's a pic of the Commando model they used in the first Max Payne. Wonder why they didn't just stick with it.

Could be that the 3d model BLOWS compared to the new one?

I meant why didn't they stick with the Commando instead of the M4gery. They could have rendered better models of the same gun.

Yeah I think the angle is pretty sloppy on these screenshots, but I still think the whole rifle is Bushmaster. Someone help me out here.
Link Posted: 10/6/2004 7:15:52 PM EST
Even the magazine looks like one of bushmasters 10 rounders...

Stretched to look like a "banana clip"
Link Posted: 10/6/2004 7:29:43 PM EST
what else is new??

by the way, max payne needs 2 p-90s and drums for the aks and ARs, since he carries all of the other crap, extra weight dont slow him down none!

Got to respect Max Payne.

Eat some painkillers and keep going, I know some poeple who can relate

I'm not nearly as impressed by his lack of ear protection as I am by just how tight he has the buttstock welded to his shoulder pocket. In fact, he either chopped the pad off entirely or he has the whole pad embedded in his flesh (under a custom flap in his jacket mind you). That's dedication.
Link Posted: 10/7/2004 3:05:01 AM EST
Well, I guess PC has taken everyone by storm. God knows you would want to show kids an evil AW style weapon while they blow sh!t up and kill everything in sight.

Colt vs. Bushy lower thing...

The lower has no fence around the mag release and I don't think Bushy ever made slabside lowers.. ?

The thing about the buffertube I have no clue about. How can you tell a difference without measuring the diameter?

Edit: Well, now I can make out the fence... pretty faint. Now I'm completely lost.. why not Bushy?

I can't believe you guys took my comment seriously. It was a joke

The lower modeled in Max Payne 2 has no fence because that would require additional polygons. What we are seeing is a simple model with a bitmap painted on it to give the illusion of greater detail.

The 3d artists for the game searched the internet for an "M4" and found Bushmaster's rather high-resolution pictures and used that for the basis of their model. Or, one of them had a post-ban BM "M4" and used it for the model.

I remember a game around 1994 in which the main character had a Beretta 92 and all the clips were 10 rounds. I thought the ban had gotten to them too.
