I know that technically twist has to do bullet length rather than bullet weight, but does anybody know the general maximum and minimum bullet weights for barrels with a 1:8 twist?

It's different with every weapon...

but I'm gonna GUESS 50gr - 90gr.

I haven't seen anybody actually test this.

The 8" twist will handle up to 80 gr bullets. For 90 gr, you'll need about a 6.5" twist.

Not true.  We were getting the 100gr 5.56 to stabilize just fine in a 1/7" barrel.

Unless you're talking about VLD bullets?  That would make a difference.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The 80 gr Sierra Match Kings and JLK 80 gr VLD bullets shoot in a 8" twist barrel. The 90 gr JLK VLD bullets don't.
