How close are the marking's on these upper rec's? I want to make a clone SOPMOD M4A1 upper and CMT upper Rec. are a lot cheaper. Please give me some advice.

Typical Colt M4 markings (not all, but typical of many):

Now, with a CMT, you won't have the "C" forging mark. You may have a keyhole, a broken "A" or even nothing at all. Additionally with CMT, you won't get the M4 stamping near the gas tube opening.

None of these forging marks mean or do anything to enhance the operation of the rifle. If it were me, I'd get a CMT with extended ramps and call it good. You'll pay at least $100 more for a true Colt upper receiver and get little in return as far as operation goes. If you must have every detail, then you have no choice but to pay for the Colt.

Hope this helps.

CMT receivers were coming with the "C" marking for a while. I had one. I don't know if that has changed, though.
