Which do you guys prefer in your LR-308s? They are basically the same price so that isn't an issue. Does one generally perform better than the other? Does one make the rifle better balanced? Too heavy? Better looking?

i have a few of both, but more 20 rounders.
the 25s seem great but a but heavy
coming from a 5.56 world the 25 .308 rounders seem to be like the 40 rounders of the 5.56 world

but get both and decide for yourself

20s
no question

I bought 10 of those 25s, and I am glad I didn't unwrap them all.  I have several 20s so I am good.

Too long.

Too heavy.

With 25 rounds in them they are hell to get in.  I download them 2 rounds.

Did I mention I don't like them?

My rifles are already heavy as hell, extra 5 762's doesn't make a difference.

If the damn things seated better with 25 in them, I wouldn't bitch about the other things as much.

25s because thats the only reason to buy 308 PMAGs in my mind.  There's better options for 20 round mags.

20's or less for bench riding and precision guns.

25's for Heavy Metal class 3-Gun or fighting blaster carbine.

Better options at the PMAG price point?

I received four of the 25 round mags,  I am skeptical about the additional weight and size of the 20 rounds.  25 round mags are the same height as a 30 round pmag, So the height works for me. This is my first AR-10 build and like others have mentioned these rifles can be quite heavy so whats five more rounds.  Mags are still in the plastic for now, while I finish the build. Nice thread OP.

My feelings are the same. To long and to heavy.

I never had a problem with mine. Only have 3 myself. Definitely heavy, and absolutely require more oomph to put them in, but i never had a problem seating them even with the bolt closed. But i always slap mine hard, that way i never have to worry about it.

I love the 25 rounders.  They are super light weight, they hang down the same length as a 30 round AR so you can actually monopod on them, unlike the 20 rounders, and they have the windows standard.  Function has been flawless, even in dirty conditions.  I used them at the Pecos Run 'n Gun this year with my M&P10...   They got submerged in water, drug through mud and dust... no problem.  I normally carry five of my steel 20 rounders.  I can carry the same ammo load out with 4 of these, and it weighs less than 4 steel 20 round mags!

I have 2 each of the magpul 10, 20, 25 round mags and DPMS 20 rd mags.
I only use the 10 round magpul mags.
I think they all function the same,
prefer 10 rounder for looks, weight, bench shooting and lack of obstructing protrusion.
