Is there any way to build a home-made "fence" around the mag release button on a slab-side Colt HBAR? I've been finding out that it's a real necessity!

Why don't you try trading your lower for a modern 'A2' style with the fence and all the A2 improvements/strenghening? Lots of guys here would love to have a slab-side for their retro builds. |

A good aluminum TIG welder will be able to do the job. Try the Yellow Pages to find a metal fab shop. |

If it's really an issue and you wanna keep you current one. Just buy another, what are they like 110 bucks? It sounds like you might actually be using this thing for duty use etc. so it might good to get a new one...
