What is the purpose of this rifle?

Self defense?
Precision shooting?

If you are just going out to 200 you don;t really need magnification. You may want to put soem $ into training if you haven't had it yet.

Thanks for the reply. This is mostly self defense, have a remington 700 .308 that I use past 200 yards, for "sniping purposes" just trying to be prepared. Also looking into some classes out here in Kalifornia.

Ya get some training. If you have the .308 you are good for distance.

I'm not an expert, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn.

Adding a magnifier has it's advantages.

EOTech makes both a 3x and 4x magnifier that work great. Coupled with a standard twist on/off mount or a flip to side mount (would be my choice). Bad news is that the magnifier and mount will likely cost as much as the sight you put it behind.
