Looking at the Viper PST in both MOA and MRAD.  I'm wondering if the numbers on the vertical scale below the reticle are in 1/10 MOA and 1/10 MIL?  Because if not, who is ever going to shooting a long enough distance to have a 40 MOA drop?  40 inches?  I'm confused.  Can someone explain?  Thank you, and yes, I am a newb.

Depending on which scope, they'll be mils or MOA. On the mil scopes, the hash marks are .5 mils, except on the edges where they're .25 mils.

Very few shooters use their reticle for holdover, preferring to dial elevation and hold for wind.

I'm not comfortable dialing yet.  I'd rather try to use holdovers....where in NM are you from?
