Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Is it even possible?

Not the MOE but I use the MIAD on mine.  There is a bit of an issue with getting it put together with the retaining pin but I overcame that with a flat screwdriver and a little forethought.

I'm not sure that helps.

He is talking about the HG, not the pistol grip.

I think

Does you DPMS currently use std. carbine handguards?  What is the diameter of the barrel underneath the handguards?

The only issue I can foresee is than the heat shield may have to be opened up a bit to accommodate the barrel if it the diameter is larger than the AR15 habr barrels.

There was a picture SOMEWHERE on here (within the last year) of a DPMS oracle .308 with magpul MOE handguards... it looked weird.

223 rem. : The barrel does appear to be their standard .308 HBAR barrel, which has nearly the same contour as the .223 HBAR barrel, minus the thicker portion near the chamber. The handguards currently mounted are DPMS's "glacierguard" series, which appear to be nothing more than standard carbine length hand-guards sans any form of heat shield. However, I am not 100% sure, and there could be both .308 and .223 versions, the website and manual are rather sparse on this information.

I vaguely recall someone had posted up pictures of their LR308 dressed with Magpul MOE handguards, and was hoping they would chime in as well.

The plastic handguards that DPMS uses on their .308's are exactly the same as the 5.56 versions. Info came from DPMS when I asked.

I have MOE handguards on my  DPMS Sportical 7.62X51. It fits fine at the delta ring and at the end cap but is tight around the barrel. The metal heat sinks will leave marks on the barrel. Will post pics tomorrow night if you want. Mine are OD and have a VFG made by one of the guys on here.

Sorry for the wait but here are the pics

With the Handguards removed you can see the 'wear' on the barrel
