Thanks for the info. My son is saving to get a billet upper. I'll pass this on to him.

Wow, looks good. Just wondering on the strength and if it can handle the torque to install barrel nuts etc. but other than that looks like a great product at an affordable price. Might have to give this a shot on the next build.

Use a Reaction Rod and this would be a none issue for the most part.

WTH kind of question is this. One would think that they wouldn't simply build it as decoration or a book end.

I am very excited about this upper. I have been waiting for these to get released. Looks like I'm making a trip out to MI tomorrow.

Staying true to my word, I picked up my billet upper from MI today. I love it. The finish is perfect. It has the T marks. I had it on a BCM lower and the fit and finish are a perfect match. The only thing I can see some people having a problem with is the possibility that a Magpul B.A.D. lever may not fit without some modification to the lever. If you don't use the lever then its perfect. So far I am very impressed. I cannot wait to get this build together. Excuse the oil in the pictures. I just took it out of the box.

Is it just the way the pictures are taken or are there tooling marks on the forward assist and under the bolt catch?

Does anyone know if these have any issues with the aligment tabs on rails such as the Troys or the Fortis REV?  Mega has since machined out small cups to accomodate the rail tabs, just wondering if the thicker walls on these MI uppers took that into account, I can't tell by the pics.  They look awesome and the price point is great.

Well, let's see some pictures with the upper receiver on some common lower receivers.  Maybe show these on some YHM, Spikes, or RRA's lower receivers.  I'm sure everyone would like to see how well they match up, and how much contrast in finish there might be.  We all know they aint going to be a perfect match, but since you mentioned the blend, let's see it.

Thanks,

Looks to be a very good fit with most lowers.  I like it, and I'll be looking for them soon.

Very nice! And reasonably price too. Only concern will be this upper not compatible with an enhanced or large bolt catch/ release button like the one from Seekins.

No disrespect intended or am I trying to create an argument but honestly it was just a question referring to the strength and durability of the product advertised, just wanted to see if anybody had any type of hands on experience with this product. How you got to building it as some sort of "decoration or book end" is beyond me. But for someone who uses their rifle as practically their 3rd arm just was wondering if he could get some input on this product before spending the money to order a "few". And to base someone's knowledge/background/experience on a websites join date/comments posted is hilarious. But staying on topic, hats off to MI for what looks like a best of both worlds product at a phenomenal price.

I ordered a couple to for my older SI billet lowers which are also in 6061 Al (not an issue, actually I think the original AR were in 6061 and changed to 7075 not for strength but finish hardness due to the climate in Vietnam - corrosion issue). i anticipate a color match.
MI shipped in less than 48hrs! I look forward to building them up - any thoughts where to get good parts for the upper? BCM? RR?

Update (2013-06-22) - They arrived yesterday PM - Very Nice - I am 100% satisfied.

I have carried a weapon for a long time, I clear buildings with a carbine on a regular basis (often a few times a day).  I'm an instructor for the state, as well as my department.  I am prior mil and a city cop/ firearm instructor/ armorer/ TL.  I have lived with the AR15/ M16 platform and carried it for decades.  I should have hands on them soon, I will do my typical thing with lots of pictures, and will give my honest opinion based off my training and experience.  The build this is going on will be a beater carbine, so it won't lead an easy life.  Sound fair enough?

Sounds great stickman, looking foward to hearing YOUR review!!

Forgive my ignorance, but what the hell is that tab on the left side of the upper for? I have not seen any other upper with this. I know I have not seen them "all", but this is new to me and would just like to know whats up. Im surprised it has not come up yet, but what the fudge is that?

Mr. 762AR556,
Have you fired your AR-15 Lately? Load a couple of magazines and shoot them in your AR and soon you'll catch on. It's all very intuitive.

It's a shell deflector. It's on every AR upper reciever I've ever seen. Never seen one without it.

It's the area of the upper that accommodates the cam pin track. On forged uppers it is more of a square.

Guys, I got my upper a week ago and I really like it. Only issue I see is that the upper portion of the upper does not allow for certain types of hand guards with anti-rotation tabs. I was also hoping to use a BAD lever system, but there is not room for that. No real big issue. As for the hand guard tabs I took some pictures of the Diamondhead VRS-T system that I test fitted with MI's upper. I will need to trim the tabs down or take them off to get the hand guard to fit tightly against the front of the upper.  I fore see others will have to do the same with other hand guards.  Either way I really like this upper and I can't wait to get it up and running.

I wonder if these will fit a centurion arms c4 rail. They also have anti rotate tabs. I'm thinking this upper will match my JD Billet lower nicely. Now just wondering about the rail or even how it will fit on my lower

So question for all how does this upper hold up compared to 7075? I just purchased this bad boy on Primary arms because it was available I really wanted a Vltor MUR 1A  but thought I'd give this a shot

That does look really nice and clean and you can't beat that price either!  I think I just might have to get one of those for my next build after I finish the one I am working on now.

These look great, and the price does too.  My only concern is whether or not it will fit the anti-rotation tabs on a Seekins BAR handguard.

I'd buy one tomorrow if it fit.
