Now what caliber will it become, 308 or 6.5 Creedmoore or ?
I have a 308 bolt carrier group, Jewel trigger, lower parts kit and Magpul ubr stock but still shopping for a hanguard.
When I figure out what caliber to go with then I will decide to buy a finished barrel or machine a barrel blank.

My set is on the way to my dealer.  It's going to be a .260 Rem.

I hear the 260 is a barrel burner and life is only 4,000 rnds and sometimes less.
I'm still doing some research before I jump on a caliber

How about the 6.5x47 Lapua - or its 6mm wildcat?

Mine is currently in route, sent from Rainier. I'll be setting my up for .308. 20'' Noveske bbl, DD rail, 2 stage trigger, PRS and a NF 3-5 x 15-50. It's going to hit the pocketbook hard, but will be o'so worth it.

I too am torn on caliber choice.  308, 260, 7mm-08 or a big dog like 300 RSAUM...

Decisions, decisions.

Well I hope so.  You did see that they got less than expected, right?  I got charged AND a shipping notice, but I guess that doesn't actually mean anything.  I am kinda surprised Mega had trouble meeting orders.

Something like this? If so, that's going to be one sexy ass build. IIRC though, Noveske only makes 21" barrels and not 20" ( aside from 12.5, 14.5,16, and 18)

No, the 6.5-284 is a hell of a lot hotter than that, and it'll go 5K rounds without problems (at least problems for me)...

6.5X.284 has a 1000 to 1200 round barrel life in competition. Sometimes less. I doubt anyone will get 4000 rounds from a .260. Expect those types of round counts from .308 or .30-06, not the smaller diameter hot rods.

Of course, if you're not talking about competitive edge accuracy you can probably "shoot" any caliber for the rest of your life if you wanted to.

It helps when you live 45 min from Rainier and bribe them with Elk salami

anxious to see your completed rifle and shooting results

It will take a few weeks to have it built as many of the parts are coming from all over
and I'm still undecided with the caliber it will be.
Most likely 6.5 Creedmoore or 308 will be it
Parts list so far
Mega Ma-Ten upper/lower
Magpul UBR stock and miad grip
SWS Handguard
Jewel trigger because its been sitting in a parts box too long
Armalite bolt carrier group
AAC 762 breakout for using a can
My custom SS buffer
My custom made adjustable gas block so its not over gassed when suppressed

I worded my response so poorly that I actually shocked myself

The 6.5x284 is the barrel burner, and by comparison the .260 I own has netted me more than 5K rounds without serious degredation...

That's what I should have typed.  Somehow I left out the .260 part...

Got a BABC set aside for the muzzle and a Magpuls ACS for a stock I'll get there slowly but surely

Thats a good looking handguard
I like the handguards without so many rails as I dont use all of that four full rail space for shit to hang on.
Ive been on the machines today making my own kind of ambi mag and bolt release since magpul dont have one yet for the 308's

Your welcome
I was going to make my build a 6.5 Creedmoore until I called Noveske and they said some 18" 762's are going up for sale
as I was talking to them

Progress on my Mega so far:

Geissele SSA-E

Slash's stainless buffer

Just trying to decide what barrel: Rainier Ultramatch, ARPerfomance Shilen barrel, or Superior Barrels Hard Blue Douglas barrel (yet to be released).

Planning on a JP free float tube and a 22-24" barrel.
