They are bright enough to illuminate a room. If you can afford it though, go with a SF M952 weaponlight...

The M3 & M6 are really handgun lights. I do have a M6 on one of my M4geries, but its my "inside" gun. For an "outside" gun, you'll need to step up to a Surefire.

They work OK on a pistol such as XD-40 or Glock. Good for outside and inside use on a pistol.
However, M6 is not that efficient on AR-15 either as a laser or a light. For light, you need something bigger. For laser, I don't see a point of having a laser on an assault rifle or carbine. Laser is good primarily for a pistol or submachine gun such as MP-5. I always had trouble with laser on UZI. |

Maybe I'm just different but if I am outside and shooting and "things" I'm not going to have a light on to give away my position, my muzzle flash would be doing that well enough already.
I think the M6 is good enough for what 95% of the civilian and Law Enforcement market are going to do with it. Hell I even used it in a real house clearing not too long ago (assisting a deputy), and it worked well enough for me. It was way out in the sticks (one of those towns with like 4 deputies)...he needed some help clearing some squatters out of an abandoned building, so he asked us to provide back up...ended up the squatters had already left before we got there. |
