Just got back from shooting my M4gery for first time, and this also my first build.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/chitea27/DSC01309.jpg

Here is the parts list:
Pre-Ban Colt lightweight sporter lower reciever ( resident of the peoples republic of NY)
Colt M4 upper with T- marks and M4 feed ramps
Colt M4A1 14 !/2" barrel ( curtiousy of skich in the EE) with extended
A2 flash hider perm pinned by ADCO
Colt cut carry handle
Samson MRFS-C free float railed forearm
Tango Down VFG
Green Ergo Grip
Green 7 pos stock,  ( picked this up at gun show, plastic part of stock
is exact same exterior dimensions as Colt M4 stock.)

Well took it for a test fire.  Shot 2 clicks low and windage was perfict.  Held 2" gruops at 50 yards, but I am sure I will do better being I was just a little too excited.  I am very happy with results,  this is my first build.

Thanks guys!  I wish I could move.  Maybe when I finish school.
All I need to finish this rifle is an Aimpoint and a Surefire,  but at least I can shoot with the irons for now.

cowboyrick,

I think I've got its brother......

I like they feel of these, they make a nice light weight and good handling carbine like this.

What rear sight is that on those two rifles pictured?  How does it compare to an ARMS #40 BUIS?

Looks like an LMT (Lewis Machine and Tool) - not sure how they compare to an ARMS, never used the LMT. I'm sure somone can answer that part though.

They both look like chopped carry handles.

Different.
-ARMS has not elevation adjustment, CCH can go from 300-600M
-ARMS can fold down out of the way of yor optic (red-dot or scope) while the CCH is always up and has to be removed if you want to add a magnified optic.
- ARMS is less than half the weight.

Rick,
You said you picked up the plastic piece at a gunshow.  Did it come with the receiver extension & hardware or is the receiver extension Colt?

If it is Colt how bad is the stock rattle?

Thanks,
Forest (who is looking for a green M4 stock for Mil-Spec receiver extensions).

Bloodroot,  it is a cut carry handle,  not as pretty as an LMT but just as functional.  Cheeper alternative to get me up and running and pretty durable.

Forrest,  the stock came with the buffer and buffer tube.  The tube is the larger diameter than the Colt tube.  The stock doesn't rattle that much at all,  and isn't as bulky as the RRA or Bushmaster stocks.  Unfortunately I didn't get a card from the deeler I bought it from,  he is in Connecticut though.  Hopefully I will run into him again and get his business card.

So y'all in NY can have "Evil" featured rifles and High Caps as long as the lower and mags are Pre-Ban?

Thats right,  as long as the lower was assembled as a complete rifle before the federal ban.
