Now note that her CAR actually has the magazine in place and not the black plastic "safety device"-thing (still seen attached to the magazine). Makes you wonder if something was happening in the area? And if so, why was the photographer taking a pic of her instead of what was happening?

If you go with the M4 type hand gards. Get a good pair of Double heat shealded version. You can get them used like new on the EE from people upgrading there COLTS with FF rails for less than $40. Well worth the little extra.
