There's literally dozens upon dozens of options and possibilities. I'd suggest narrowing it down to a couple optics you are looking at, then it will be much easier to go about suggesting the best way to mount them. If you dont know which optic you want yet... spend a little while reading in the forum, especially the topics posted to the top of the page. There is A LOT of info there to help people understand the differences in different optics.

edited because it is stupid late and I am stupid tired.

How about some pics of Aimpoints from Iraq?

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards an Aimpoint but the EOTECH was calling me. I have decided to go with the Aimpoint mounted on my RAS. Now I only have to decide which mount to use.

Id recommend the ARMS 22M68 with a full spacer.

Quick detach capability and perfect co-witness with your iron sights.

Military uses the QRP mount, however the ARMS 22M68 is a nicer choice.  Cost maybe $20-$30 more.

I just think for myself (the front of the RAS mounts to the forward handguard cap) the handguard cap will wobble eventually.  So will your RAS (even if the wobble is almost indescernable it will still affect your groups.

Remeber these are guys who are issued only carry handles and Aimpoints-- thus if they want a backup ready to be used they need to leave the carry handle affixed and mount the aimpoint on the RAS

The sight will still shoot allright but it will not be entirely as good esspecially long run.

BETTER IDEA (IF YOU ARE BUYING --- Buy a KAC flip sight and mount it on the reciever)

That was what the Marine Force Recon did (Unit purchase with own funds KAC flip sight)

Also the guy on the upper left forgot to close his dustcover IN A SANDSTORM and obviously this guy didn't run his weapon's carrier dry (for the desert) because the sand is sticking all over his bolt carrier.

I used a Trijicon Reflex mounted on an RAS for years with no change in zero.  My RAS is 6 years old and still rock solid, despite some hard use.

Several other people with hard use guns have commented on its ability to work with short range optics.
