Any suggestions for "Just paint over it"...was wondering about options for leaving it bare after removing the cerakote, trying to re-finish it the best way to be clone correct, or just hit it with some tan spray paint and mount it to the DD rail...

If you're careful sandblasting the cerakote off, the ano should still be fine. If you blast it down to bare metal, you're gonna need to get it re-ano'd. If you go that route it might end up being cheaper and easier to find a virgin upper. Me? I'd just paint over what you've got now.

Can anyone tell me anything about the earlier dd m4a1 ris ii? Mainly curious if earlier ones are correct.  Here is a pic of the version I am referring to. The notable difference is the presence of vent holes in the forward lower part of the rail.

Earlier rails had the holes forward of the relief cut for the gas block, they were removed in order to strengthen the lower rail as bipod use and forward pressure could cause it to bend.  They are correct and were/are in use.

$350 for a rail sucks but street price is $470.  I bought one its in pretty decent condition but their Instagram shows some will be painted.

Here it is on a 6921 upper I bought back in December I've been wanting to get one for.

Thanks for the info. Just realized there are two posts after mine with rails from the same time period. I thought I remembered something about them bending, but wasn’t sure. Would prob take a decent amount of force to bend one I hope.

Thanks CD and others for answering this q. If black front Kac buis is clone correct, that’s great news. Regarding rear sights, I have a few options I’m considering for a Block II 14.5 and a Block II MK18:

-Kac adjustable 600m rear sight with larger aluminum base
-Kac adjustable 600m rear sight with micro steel base
-Kac popsicle stick non adjustable with aluminum base
-matech rear

Do any of these work better than others?

How common are the non-adjustable Kac popsicle stick rear sights?

All four are in use.  Most common for USASOC units is the MaTech currently, do to being a big Army item (SEALS get them too).  The KAC 300m (popsicle stick as you call it) was the first BUIS issued under Block I.  Not very common today.  Marines/Navy use the KAC 600m Mirco and all use the KAC 600m.  Also, all are black.

Currently I've got only one KAC 600m micro, and about 50/50 split between MaTechs and KAC 600m for issue.  So, personal preference which to go with.

$20.00 to ship a $6.00 wrench, shit.... I'll just spend another few bucks for the better wrench and not lend it out then forget to who this time.
