Surely there is significance to these markings. |

So, Colt and FN are outsourcing their parts? Why would Chiptec use Colts "C" that's been known for over 1/2 century? CD |

Received new in wrapper FN caged coded uppers with the C on it. Label had FN cage code on it also, not Chiptec's cage code. CD |

CD View Quote We know that Colt outsources, at a minimum. "C" markings disappeared, replaced by Colt CAGE. I cannot see the "C" indicating anything else. |

At SHOT show FN had a military contract M4 on display. The upper receiver had the FN CAGE code and C just like the one in the picture here. I asked one of the FN reps if it stood for Colt and he got really offended. He said they absolutely do not receive parts from Colt. However, he could not explain what the C marking was for and said it was a forge marking.

It is interesting that the Cage Code is part of the forging instead of being added after via engraving or roll marking. I'm not sure why manufactures even leave forge markings on stuff. It already being machined, why not clean it up?

Was told to return it but they didn't offer return shipping labels, which meant I had to come out of pocket for shipping. He said he never told me he wasn't going to pay for the return shipping, not sure how hes gonna do that though. I know my software won't let me issue a return for a greater dollar value. Still waiting to see how it all goes down. Barrel should arrive Saturday to them. |
