Quite awhile back, there was a thread in the retro forum concerning the first of the standard (Post Edgewater) M16 rifle buffers, those with the "red wine" colored bumper tips. Somebody posted a good picture of several of these buffers, showing the color variation in these parts. Could somebody please re-post that picture in this thread? I would greatly appreciate it; thanks!

Here you go. Varies from orange to very dark purple. These arefrom  1968 and 1969

here's one of my saved buffer pics (originally posted by 45Bravo)

1. A well used Edgewater buffer.
2. A good condition Edgewater buffer.
3. An early Colt SP1 Carbine buffer, it came out of a nylon coated aluminum stock. SN unknown. Note lack of flats and that yellow urethane is not translucent nor is it pinned. Body is Olive Green.
4. A late model Colt Carbine buffer. Translucent gold urethane bumper. Body is Gold.
5. An H buffer. Translucent light yellow urethane bumper. Body is Gold.
6. A factory Colt M16A1 buffer, 9 million serial number range. Translucent wine urethane bumper. Body is Olive Green.
7. A factory Colt SP1 buffer, 180XXX serial number range. Note yellow urethane is not translucent nor is it pinned. Body is Light Gold.
8. Unknown M16A1 buffer that resides in my PWA Commando. Note yellow urethane is not translucent nor is it pinned. Body is Silver.
9. Unknown M16A1 buffer. Translucent light yellow urethane bumper which is pinned. Body is Gold.
10. NOS M16A1 buffer manufactured 6/69 and relabeled in 1988. Note wine red urethane which is pinned and Dark Olive Green body. Note flats on spring retaining shoulder not present on other M16A1 buffers.
