Got 10 of them in a box under a table at the yard sale...no other gun stuff present.
5 NIB Colt mags 70 dated. 2 new no box and 3 lightly used. 1 used one was a simmonds and other 2 used ones were "Colt .223" mags while the new ones were all "Colt 5.56" mags. Won't tell you how much I paid....but it wasn't much! |

Be honest, the box was sealed shut w/ packing tape and just had a marking on the outside of "10 count 196? to 1970s series Colt Magazines. WIFE: DO NOT DISCARD". Seeing the writing on the box you grabbed the gal working the yard sale, presumably the wife and said, "Hey there. Wow your hair sure looks nice for such a breezy day... Umm, anyhow, I've been collecting old Western novelty magazines and notice that there's a box of ten 1970's series "Colt Magazines" down there under the table. Can I offer you a $10 bill for them. It's a rare collection disorder I suffer from and I'd just like to take them home and add to the shelf in my worthless library of old magazines..." Nice find. Even if I'm off base by my interpretation of the events, I like it a lot more than any explaination Jeremy2171 could come up with... Unless some day in the future I happen to be the guy who does the writing on the box!  Sly |

That is one helluva find! To say that you're lucky would be a gross understatement, just like saying I'm only a tad jealous.

Garage sales around here are just as good.
About two years ago (one year plus before the ban lifted)my friend called me and told me he was at a garage sale and hanging onto a box for me, that I needed what was in it, and that I had to come over right away. I took his word for it and went over. Three thermold 30s, one of the Thermold 30/45, and a pile of the Thermold stripper clips and and loaders, with no price on the box. The lady running the sale said they were her ex-husband's, she wasn't sure what they even were, but thought that $10.00 sounded right. My buddy damned near wet himself, and I did the decent thing and told her that they were worth quite a bit more than that...so she told me thanks, but they weren't worth more than that to her, and she gave them to me for the ten-spot. While I don't make a habit of going to garage sales, I do stop on occasion now just to look around. Sluggo |

Cool! Wonderful find.
I got 3 30rds at a garage sale last year befor the ban ended for $1.00 each. I love when that happens. I also got two of the military Bianchi style green flao holsters for $5.oo each at the same sale.
