I'm looking for a pre-ban M4A2 or A3 complete upper that is chrome lined (chamber & barrel). Does anyone make one other than Bushmaster and what is the quality of those other than Bushmaster, if they exist?

If you want a 14.5" or 16" M4 profile barrel that is made of 4150 barrel steel, and is chrome lined you can purchase one from DPMS, Bushmaster, or Colt. Colt and DPMS offer 1-7" twist in there 16", M4 barrels. Colt, Bushmaster, and DPMS all offer 1-7" twist in there 14.5", M4 barrels. Bushmaster and Colt offer mil-spec, forged front site bases. I recommend Bushmaster over Colt due to the price difference, and over DPMS because of the cast front site base that DPMS uses. The Azalin

With Colt M4s, you also get the carry handle ($100), M4 handguards ($40), side sling swivel ($30), and factory M4 feedramp cuts ($?). This rather decreases the price gap between BM and Colt. I wasn't aware that BM is offering 1/7 in their M4 barrels. That is a good thing if you want to shoot heavier bullets. I have both a BM and a Colt M4 upper. Both are good shooters, but the Colt is the better upper, IMHO.

Where do you purchase your Colt M4 uppers? The only two places that I know of are www.sawlesales.com and MSTN, both of which are very expensive. Bushmaster does limited runs of 14.5", 1-7" twist M4 barrels. I beleive they have some in stock right now. The Azalin

I have owned both Colt and Bushmaster M4 14.5" 1/7 flat top uppers. I noticed no quality difference between the two at all. I would get a Bushmaster if I were you.

If you have a preban colt lower i would go with a colt upper, the same goes for bushmaster. I just like things to match. Colts are very hard to find but not impossible. I believe bushmaster is out right now. Don't forget unless the rifle is registered as a SBR you'll have to change the flash suppressor. I just ran into that problem. Are you sure you don't want a 16", it's only a 1.5 inches longer?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I'm heading to the next gunshow on Saturday to see what's available and if there's nothing there, I'll look into buying one of the recommended ones from one of the local dealers or ordering directly.
