A plain ole lockwasher will certainly work until the next gun show or UPS delivery.

I kind of wish there was some sort of indexing on muzzles.

You can index your f/h, You don't have to tighten it all the way, just go as far as you can without fully crushing it................

Sometimes you can, often you can't.  I prefer things to be properly tight.  IMO, YMMV..................

Found one for $2.75, but no deal as mentioned above.

Why not use a peel washer? Isn't that the standard?

"Why not use a peel washer?"
I found out why. I picked up a couple of crush washers at the gun show today ($2.00/ea) and replaced the peel washer on my A2 flash hider. The crush washer, while requiring pretty good torque, makes the job of indexing the muzzle attachment easy and gets rid of the bright appearance of the peel washer. I don't have a receiver block for the vise, but fortunately my heavy barrel is fluted, so the walnut 'soft' jaw covers I made for my vise held the barrel while I torqued the FH. Very simple to index it perfectly compared to the drawn-out trial and error method with the peel washer.
