How long can you leave USGI 30 rnd Magazines loaded with 28 rnds before the springs get messed up?

I don't know about 28, but I keep mine loaded with 30 and I think they'll be fine for decades.

Repeated compression and relaxation cycles on a spring will wear it out. Constant compression will not.

Thanks for the help

26,280,000 minutes, no longer.

At minute 26,280,001, the springs break, and all the ammo cooks off simultaneously.

The only reason to load 28 in your 30 round magazine would be to facilitate relaoding, it will have no effect on the spring life of your magazine. Springs wear out by compression and decompression, so loading a magazine and then unloading it because you don't want to wear it out actually causes more damage than just leaving it alone. Don't worry about it.
