I'm Hillbilly, From WV. Just getting started with AR type weapon systems. I've been a Bolt action man all my life, but after shooting a friends S&W MP15T a few weeks ago i decided it was time to step into the new century.

I'll be building my first Black Beauty myself.
I've chosen a S&W M4 style lower assembly with a Knights Armament SR15 upper assembly. Both available locally and at much lower price than ready built rifle. For optics I'll be using a L3 Communications EOTech 516.A65/1 Holographic Weapons Sight for close range shooting, as well as a Leupold MkIV 3-9x50 mounted in Badger Ordnance rings.
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hillbilly

If you are going to switch back and forth between optics, why not go with larue quick detach mounts for each?

Welcome to the madness hillbilly

Sounds like a very good setup.  Especially for a first AR

ETA:  I second the Larue suggestion.

Trigger tuned? Is he stoning it or something? Personally I'm pretty skeptical on that.

Anyway sounds like a nice setup. Have fun

Settting it to NM specs.

Oh, he's putting some kind of match trigger in? There isn't really any "National Match" for AR15s, but he probably just means he's putting in a Jewel trigger or something.

No not Jewel. Smith/Dealer is a retired Marine Corps 2112 (22yrs in Corps, Gold Medals from shooting on rifle and pistol team) He said it would have a 4lb NM trigger when I pick it up Wednesday.

It's got Knight Armament stamped all over it. My Smith/Dealer kept the flip-up Iron sights and installed a FN Mil/Spec front site and a FN Mill/Spec carry handle / rear sight at my request.[/quot

KAC stamped all over it where besides the rail?  What do the barrel stampings say?

The reason so many people are questioning this is because there are a few things that don't sound right, and they are concerned you didn't get what you paid for.

Hand guard & rail covers, Barrel, Bolt & Carrier.
