Anyone mount a light on your flattop in a offset mount?

I recently completed a AR build and I'm running just stock plastic middy handguards.  I'm saving for a rail system, but I wanted a light on the weapon.

I have a RRA A2 rear sight (chopped carry handle style) and a Aimpoint in a ARMS mount.

I was looking and there is enough rail space to use a vikings mount to put a light on there.  Its a neat set up, although all my tac lights were to big (X3's) so I had a cheapo Brinkmans light I put on there.  Sturdy enough, and actually balances kinda nice since all the weight is right above your hand.

Anyone else run a set up like this?  The LaRue off set mounts might work a bit better.  Bit of an issue of the bulb area being a big to large a diameter and hitting the HG nut-thus you cant really get the light pointing straight down the barrel -  but its only off a degree or two.

I'll get some pics this weekend and show what I mean.
