I'm looking into the Surefire weapon lights with the pressure switches and am curious.  Can the wire itself be removed from any connector or the pad itself?  I'm hoping to maybe hide the wire and possibly route it through a drilled hole in my front vertical grip "gangsta grip" as my friends in the armed services call them.  Anyone done it before or know if it can be done?  Have pics?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Yes, the modern cables can be detached from the TailCaps.

Where xx is length of cable in whole inches

What I'm trying to do is disassemble the acutal wire from that metal connector on the end of the wire where it meets the tail cap.  Think it can be done?  I'm wanting to try and drill a small hole through the front grip and just kind of snake that wire through.  I'm pretty sure that metal connector won't fit through the hole I'm prepared to drill.

Thanks for your reply.

Perhaps, if you ask SureFire really nicely they will accept your front grip with the hole already drilled and "manufacturer/assemble" a tape switch through it?

I guess it may be worth calling a WeaponLight Specialist at SureFire (or Tech Support) to see whether or not they are prepared to help you.

Of course, they would be able to make the cable exactly the length you need but the whole thing would likely cost quite a bit...

Does Surefire still sell the TailCaps w/cables that don't detached in the Classic Series?  I can't find it on their site.  Thanks!

That's a great idea.  Hopefully they'll work with me.

Thanks guys.

If nothing else you might be able to simply cut a narrow slot to pass the pressure switch through...

Surefire shot me down after waiting a week for their reply.  They said no custom work is provided from Surefire.  Oh well.  Maybe I'll just break down and get the Surefire vertical grip/light combo anyway.
