My suggestion would be to forget sucking up real estate on your hand guard an get the Elzetta mount. It is ambidextrous and puts the light along the bottom of the barrel (much more out of the way). Best part is that it can be had for $25 at some online dealers. http://www.elzetta.com/zfh1500FAQ.htm

It puts the light up high out of the way, and the size of the mount is minimal. Mounting on the bottom becomes problematic.

Will a Thorntail Offset mount work for that??
Sorry that IS a Thorntail mount.
