I've got an Olympic SS marked 11.5/5.5 barrel.  

I've looked it over pretty well and cant seem to find any signs that the flash hider is pinned and welded on.

Is it possible that the FH is pressed on and the barrel is in fact not threaded.

There is no washer behind the FH between the barrel

I have never heard of that on an AR. For one thing, I don't understand the law to allow that procedure to meet the permanent attachment requirements. Look VERY, VERY closely...those blind pins can be hard to see. And when permanently attaching, a washer is not needed.

No, the only ones that were pressed on were on 16" AWB compliant barrels.  That would be rather obvious to you.
