Here's mine. This baby is one smooth shooter.

This is an old picture without the swan sleeve, the swan is much better IMO.

Kisara, let me make sure I am on the same sheet of music.

Your barrel is fluted aft to the upper receiver?

Was it factory, or did someone do the work for you?

Don't mean to speak for Kisara but it looks like a Bushy varminter upper with a Flash hider on it.  If it is then yes it is fluted under the handgaurd.

EDIT, I suppose it could be anyones barrel.  Upon close inspection it is preban (or at least the gas block is ans the hand gaurd isnt vented.

I retract my original supposition.

I am afraid that I don't have a place to post the pictures but I have 2 fluted barrel guns. They are both built from kits on Oly Lowers.
The first is a SS 24 inch Varmiter built from a Model 1 kit. The second J&T Tactical Light weight carbine. Both are great weapons as far as I am concerned.

Gus,

Are you barrels fluted aft of the front sight? Who did the work? This appears to be what I am looking for.

Yes - they are fluted from behind the rear of the sight housing to about 1" forward of the barrel nut. Both were done by Bushmaster in 1996 and 1998.

It's definately heavy! It's hardly a CQB rifle anyway so it doesn't really matter. I've dispatched a couple of racoons with it over the years! It's bright enough to see clearly for hundreds of yards. The only drawback is it won't fit in its case unless I remove the lamp assembly.

Edite to add: Reminded me of a funny story - my ex-GF actually believed me when I warned her about the recoil when she turned on the light. She was holding that baby pretty tight when she pressed the switch!

In my pics: 100% factory Bushmaster, the whole barrel is fluted.  It is a preban 20" V-Match, not the newer Varminter.

Great rifles, all!

I think my next AR project will involve a fluted barrel.

Okay, so it's short.  Bushy fluted 11.5", fluted under the handguards too, trust me...
