Some different features I thought y'all might like to peruse. The last of my old Bushmaster lowers, Nodak upper, McKay 1:7 barrel, Geiselle trigger, my own design clamp-on A1 FSB. Exceeded expectations; a keeper.

Awesome gas block, I have one laying around that I was going to "set screw" through the bottom but I may just copy yours!

Thanks - mucho appreciated. I didn't anticipate the interest in the fsb! I saved the cad file and the drawing of the fsb.

A fellow member of weaponeer is interested in making his own gas block.  What steps did you take to make it?

Wow. I really fouled up my last fsb drilling job. That fsb would have saved me much gnashing of teeth.

I modeled it in 3D cad - Solidworks - using the original Army drawing.

Wait. Wut?

You CNC'd it from whole cloth?

Looks like a modified FSB to me.

I am corn-fused

LOL no, I meant I modeled the setup i.e. fitment of the screws, etc, on models I made of the barrel and fsb based on old Army drawings. I used a commercially available un-drilled fsb.

Bandsaw cut on the bottom?

That is a sweet set up. You could probably make a few coins easy selling them.

I have done 3 or 4 FSB mountings and I aint real proud of all of them!

That is definitely a good looking option for many who would never dream of doing a FSB install!

ETA it looks perfect from the port side. No one would even be able to tell unless they got right up in your grill.

Again GREAT JOB!

Armalite sells a clamp-on sight similar to that, only thing I don't care for is the chance that they can come loose and render the weapon to a single shot. Very nice setup though, congrats!!!

That rifle is a pampered range toy. I hear what you are saying - a clamp-on fsb should not be used on a duty or teotwawki weapon.

Great looking job on that FSB. The gears in my head are spinning. What size are the socket head screws?

Screws are #6-48's. Slit was made with a precision carbide slitting saw.

Thanks.  It looks awesome.  I always assumed there wasn't enough meat to put in any screws without hitting the barrel!

There's not much meat there for the screw holes or the slit LOL. One sneeze and you butcher the casting.

Will a bayonet still attach or is the lug too far apart due to the cut? Or maybe I am looking at it weird. A bayo should still work
