Ok I take it, from what little I have found on the net, that at some point this was available to the public at large. It's obviously dried up and no longer for sale or so it would appear. Anyone have the story on this?

Also what is the effective equivilant? I know about the IMI but Botach tends to be a royal pain in the ass to deal with any other suppliers?

Please help I got a new Colt pre-ban with a new FN 1/7 barrel that's real hungry. :)

If you're just interested in the 62-grain weight, then you could try Federal's American Eagle brand. They carry a 62-grain FMJ load in .223 Remington. I would stay away from any lacquer coated steel-cased Russian ammo for your new pre-ban Colt. And then there's the 62-grain SS109 ammo from Olympic. Some say it's garbage, some say it's okay. You have to make up your own opinion. Recommend you buy only one box to test it out.

Check Widener's for the IMI SS109 (62 gr). They are out at the moment, but are supposed to be getting more: www.wideners.com Winchester also makes a commercial 62 gr FMJ load that's a little cheaper. The Federal American Eagle is pretty good too. Note that neither are SS109 spec projectiles.

You might try georgia-arms.com. They load a SS-109 round that I shoot quite a bit of. It's accurate and low flash, but not quite as hot as mil-spec M885. $200 per 1000. and they're great people to deal with.

M855 is hard to come by. Even if you find some, you'll pay through the nose for it. Have you considered XM193? It'll run just fine through a 1/7, it's loaded to mil std, it performs better out of 16" barrels, and it's available for less than $200/1k.

Thanks for the responses guys. XM193 I buy it all the time from Eric and jsut put 180 rounds though the 1/7 today. Unfortunately I'm looking to shoot this rifle out to 300 yds and everything I have read says 55gr looses accuracy in a 1/7 at that range. Yes Troy I have read that link, that's why I buy XM193 as it is. :) I'm not after somewhere close to Milspec I'm after some thing between "Damn close" to "Wow it's Milspec". I think IMI is about the best I'm going to get. I would still like to find out why Federal isn't selling M855 anymore. Oh well Thanks Jeff

LC M193 will shoot just fine at 300 and even 500yds thru a 1/7 twist. Most people here that moan about how awful the 1/7 twist is have probably not actually shot M193 at a target 300yds or more ....

A few months ago we did a Georgia group buy of 6 cases of IMI M855 from Botach - Zer0 Problems. Wideners is the new US Distributor according to IMI, so just get it from http://www.wideners.com/ ~ s0ulzer0
