Would you feel comfortable mounting an aimpoint/eotech on one of these forearms, for a general purpose rifle?

TIA

If Mark LaRue said he'd be comfortable mounting an Aimpoint/Eotech on his girl's best China, I'd ask him if I could order his dishware in a tactical pattern!

Very nice Grant.

Another winner, I believe.

I may have to build up a new 20" gun.

Ooooooo. I want one. And this after I finally finished an upper with a KAC FF RAS.

The "Live Free or Die" is a nice touch. You don't suppose you can get them to also put "Molon Labe" do you?

gosh dang it... larue makes rails faster than anyone... i bet i won't even have to wait 5 months like i did for RasII...

carry on!

all we need is a midlength!
Link Posted: 8/22/2004 8:02:36 PM EST
Less than one lb for a rifle fore-end?

Wow. Just . Considering standard handguard is a little over half lb plus delta ring, this won't make the rifle much heavier AT ALL...

I can tell the top rail is higher, but does that mean the side rails are LOWER?

Seems like that would make side-mounted flashlights easier to get at.

On the Larue, it appears exaggerated. Like the KAC products, the side rails should be in line with the barrel and the top rail is high to line up with the rails on the receiver. Visually, I am under the impression that the bottom rail is tucked in more, but looking at the top picture, the two side rails and the bottom rail appear to line up properly with the handguard nut. What we need is a picture of both ends. Notice that the metal around the vent holes next to the bottom rail is angled? The top looks rounded.

Still waiting for a midlength...although, those look great!

Let me know as soon as a midlength version is out and you'll have my order C4iGrant!

Thanks for the pics!

Those look great! Now when will LaRue come out with a continuous top railed forend with a removable bottom section?

Ditto!

We need new continuous rail systems instead of improved older designs.

I fully understand that the continous rail is growing in popularity, I personally don't see a need for it. If you want to mount a scope on your AR then you can just use the LaRue M4 cantilever scope mount (which fixes the issue of having to put a scope ring about where the delta ring is). If you want an Aimpoint over the delta ring then you can buy a cantilever mount. If you want your EOTech over the delta ring, then you can buy a LaRue EOTech mount. So I guess I see it as an answer to no question. This is of course just my opinion....

C4

I agree with you here! I don't see the big deal but the continous real is neat to see since there are not that many around. I would be more apt to buy one for a carbine that would use a red dot type optic than I would a rifle that would use a regular scope. When I build a SAM type rifle I will get one of these new tubes! They look great and are priced right.

The continuous rail concept is the best thing going.

No more need for cantilever mounts, unlimited and truly universal mounting space (no voids or bridges to limit mounting options).

What’s not to like

Why do you think the Military requested this type of rail for the SCAR project

I didn't mean to shock you with it! They came in faster than I thought they would and didn't get a chance to warn you....

I didn't have the cash on my any way...there's a reason I don't bring my checkbook out to your place any more

My financial situation aside the 12.0s were absolutely PERFECT! I can't wait to build up a 20" using one.

The 12.0 without 3 Tango Down Rail covers is $299 and with covers is $314.

God that's a steal. I can't even afford a carbine and rifle upper right now, but I want the LaRue tubes sooooooooo badly!

A continuous rail actually starts from the rear of the receiver, like the LMT or SIR, not split between the receiver and something attached only to the front of the receiver. Both the LMT monolithic and SIR, are also in the SCAR program.
